Creating and managing Devices in the Master data app

On this page:

You can create and manage a list of your Devices in the iVolve Master data app.

Depending on your permissions in GoLine, you might not be able to view or edit certain aspects of a Device, specifically the payload limits section of haul trucks. Further, certain Device details (such as manufacturer, model, and serial number) can only be added and edited in the Master data app.

To view and edit both Devices and Device details in GoLine's Devices section, you must have the Devices and Device Properties permissions enabled on your account. For more information on permissions, view the Managing group permissions in GoLine topic, or contact your site administrator.

For haul trucks, you can also set a custom range of payload limits as a percentage of the machine's rated payload.

These payload limit ranges are displayed in the Devices list; hovering over a payload limit displays a tooltip summary of the device's high and critical limits. Also, if the Vendor and Model ID has been recorded in GoLine, these are displayed as well.

Creating Devices

This process is for creating a device without a payload limit; for payload limits, see the Creating devices with payload limits section below.

To create a device:

  1. In GoLine, select Master data.

https://ivolve.sharepoint.com/sites/Docs/HTML/Content/Resources/Images/GoLine/Master_data.png
  1. Select Devices from the left-hand menu, then click Add in the top-right corner.

  1. Enter a Name and select a Device type, then select a Vendor and Model as needed.

You cannot select a Model until you select a Vendor.

  1. Enter a Code, Description, Serial number, and IP address as needed, and ensure the Enabled check box is selected.

If the Enabled check box is not selected, the device will not appear in the Devices list.

  2. The Id field is filled automatically and cannot be edited.

  3. Click Save.

Creating Devices with payload limits

To create a device with a payload limit:

  1. In the Add devices window, enter a Name, then select Heavy Truck in the Device type field.

The Heavy Truck field refers to haul trucks (and only haul trucks) in this instance.

  1. Fill out the remaining fields in this section as needed.

  2. In the Payload Target section, enter the device's Rated Payload and Target Payload.

A device's rated payload and target payload are usually the same amount, but these can be different. For example, trucks that can safely be filled above their rated payload (such as 105% of its rated payload) can have a target payload set that is greater than their rated payload to improve productivity.

Do not overfill your trucks beyond their safe operation limits. Target payloads should not be set in iVolve that will cause damage to your vehicles or unsafe working conditions.

The High (yellow) and Critical (red) payload limits are derived from the device's Rated Payload. The Target Payload does not affect the High and Critical payload limits.

The Rated, Target, High, and Critical fields will all display "Not set" if they are left blank. If you set a value for any of the Rated, Target, High, or Critical fields, you must set a value for the remaining fields or the device cannot be created in GoLine.

You can create a device without entering data in these fields, but in this case each of the Rated, Target, High, and Critical fields must be left blank.

  1. In the Payload Limits section, enter a High Limit and Critical Limit.

You can enter these limits as either a percentage of the machine's rated payload (in the field on the left) or as a set amount (in the field on the right). The corresponding weight or percentage will be automatically calculated.

  2. The Payload Range section automatically updates to display a bar graph of the target payload and payload limits; hovering over this graph displays a tooltip with each payload limit's details.

  3. Click Save.

The target tonnage is shown in the payload card on the iVolve display.

After the payload limits are set, this will also affect a haul truck operator's iVolve display. For example, if a haul truck is underloaded, the iVolve display will show the truck's payload in blue.

If the payload is within haul truck's the high limit, the iVolve display will show the truck's payload in yellow.

If the payload is within the haul truck's critical limit, the iVolve display will show the truck's payload in red.

These colours are shown until the haul truck's load finalisation reweigh. For more information on this process, see the Load finalisation reweigh section of the Loading topic.

The loader's iVolve display also shows the same colours when a haul truck is underloaded or overloaded. Further, if the previous haul truck was loaded to the correct amount, this will be represented by a green truck icon in the Previous Truck card on the loader's iVolve display.

If the previous truck's load reached its High limit, this truck icon will be yellow, and if the previous truck's load reached its Critical limit, this truck icon will be red. Further, the percentage shown is derived from this truck's Rated payload.

Editing and disabling devices

You can edit and disable existing devices, but you cannot delete a device. However, by clearing a device's Enabled check box, you can remove it from the list of devices, and it will not affect any reporting or data while it is disabled. You can re-enable a device by selecting its Enabled check box again.

To edit an existing device:

  1. Click the Edit icon on a device.

  1. Make changes as needed, then click Save.

Select or clear the Enabled check box to enable or disable the device as needed.
