Introduction
A project file can hold multiple design surfaces (TIN, plane, or alignment-based). Adding a new surface allows you to switch between design options or work stages without starting a new project.
⚠️ Safety Notes
-
🔴 Only load files from trusted surveyors/engineers — incorrect design data can cause grading errors.
-
⚠️ Do not change files during digging — always load new data when the machine is stopped and safe.
-
✅ Keep files organized — avoid duplicate names to prevent confusion.
Step-by-Step Instructions
-
Insert USB flash drive
-
Save the new surface file (TIN
.TN3, Plane.PL3, or Alignment.RD3) to the root directory of a USB stick. -
Insert the USB into the ICT monitor port.
-
-
Open File Menu
-
On the ICT monitor, tap Menu → File → Design Data.
-
The current project file list will appear.
-
-
Import the new surface
-
Tap Input.
-
Select Import from USB.
-
Highlight the new surface file from the list (e.g.,
Pad_Design.TN3). -
Tap the checkmark to import.
-
-
Assign the surface to your project
-
Once imported, the surface will appear under the current Design Data list.
-
Highlight it and tap Change Active if you want to make it the working surface.
-
If not, it will still be stored in the project for later use.
-
-
Confirm settings
-
Go to File → Active Design Data.
-
Ensure the correct project file is active, and select the new surface as the Active Surface.
-
-
Verify on screen
-
Return to the main view.
-
The new surface should now be shown on plan/profile screens for iMC guidance.
-
Tips
-
Use clear names for surfaces (e.g., “Final_Grade”, “Subgrade_300mm”) so operators know which one to select.
-
You can store multiple surfaces in one project and switch between them depending on the task.
-
If you get an error like “Surface: Too Dense”, the file may need simplification by your surveyor.
Conclusion
Adding a new surface to an existing project is simple: import it via USB, assign it within the project, and select it as the active design. This flexibility helps operators adapt quickly to new design updates on site.
