How to Connect the Machine to an NTRIP Correction Source (K-RTK, AllDayRTK, VRSNow, HxGN Smartnet)

Introduction

NTRIP (Networked Transport of RTCM via Internet Protocol) delivers real-time GNSS correction data through a cellular network. Your machine’s ICT monitor connects to the NTRIP caster (server) using login credentials provided by your surveyor or service provider.

⚠️ Safety Notes

  • 🔴 Do not adjust while operating: Only set up corrections when the machine is safely parked.

  • ⚠️ Keep passwords private: Credentials are often site-specific and licensed.

  • Check cellular coverage: You’ll need good 4G/LTE reception for stable corrections.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Park and prepare the machine

    • Lower work equipment to the ground.

    • Lock the control levers.

    • Switch the starting key to ON (engine can remain off).

    • Allow the ICT monitor to boot fully.

  2. Open GNSS settings

    • From the ICT monitor Dashboard, tap the GNSS status button.

    • This opens the GNSS setup menu.

  3. Select Correction Data source

    • Tap the Correction Data option.

    • Choose Network (NTRIP) instead of Radio.

  4. Enter NTRIP details

    • Input the following (provided by your correction service):

      • Caster IP or URL (server address)

      • Port number (commonly 2101)

      • Mountpoint (specific correction stream name)

      • Username & Password (from provider)

⚠️ Double-check spelling and capitalization — errors prevent connection.

  5. Check connection status

    • The ICT monitor will attempt connection.

    • Once successful, the Correction Data Status on your dashboard turns green.

    • If still red after a few minutes, verify settings and network coverage.

  6. Verify position accuracy

    • GNSS status should show as “Initialized” (not “Waiting for Satellites” or “Low Accuracy”).

    • Test by checking bucket edge precision against a known control point.

Tips

  • If corrections drop out, the machine may switch to inertial navigation temporarily (yellow warning). Continue digging only if accuracy requirements allow.

  • Some regions require a SIM card with data plan inside the machine’s modem. Confirm with your Komatsu distributor which SIM/service to use.

  • If multiple mountpoints are available, use the one closest to your site (e.g., "VRS" or "MAX").
