SCR = Selective Catalytic Reduction
DEF = Diesel Exhaust Fluid
Correct Isolation of Machine
Before isolating machine, ensure the following conditions are met:
-
Machine is parked in a safe or designated park up area
-
Work equipment is lowered to ground level
-
Park brake is engaged
-
Equpment lock is engaged
-
DEF system purged (see below)
KDPF and DEF Best Practice
SCR / DEF system will still be in operation after key OFF
The system continues operating to purge DEF in lines and injector back to tank.
If DEF system is not allowed to purge, DEF liquid will crystalise in the lines/injector and cause constant fault codes in the control box.
DO NOT isolate machine while DEF system still in operation. This can be checked by the system operating lamp (see image).
If orange indicator lamp is:
-
ON = DEF system is still purging - DO NOT ISOLATE
-
OFF = DEF system finished purging - ISOLATE MACHINE
DEF system is a separate system to the engine/fuel system and has an independent fill-point denoted by a blue cap.
BEST PRACTICE
-
Isolate machine after orange indicator light has gone out
-
Refuel diesel only via normal diesel fill-point
-
Re-fill DEF system only via DEF fill-point (blue cap).
