Is it possible to use the device offline on the Internet?

Question

Is it possible for smart phone terminals and FleetDevice to store GNSS location information even when they are out of internet range, and send the location information to the server when they are in internet range?

Answer

Yes, it is possible to send location information conditionally even if the smartphone terminal or FleetDevice is out of the Internet range.

Explanation
  1. Smartphone terminal

  • If there is no signal coverage, the location information is temporarily stored in the device.

  • When the device comes within range of a signal, the location information stored in the device is sent to the server.

  • Up to approximately 32 hours of location information can be stored.
(This is the case when “Frequency of location data transmission” is set to every 3 seconds on the web management screen; if it is set to every 1 second, the frequency will be 1/3.)

  • If there is still unsent data on the server at the time of logout, a screen will be displayed stating that ”There are X number of unsent data."

  • When the limit is reached, the oldest unsent data will be deleted first.

  • The acquisition of your vehicle's location information is not affected by the quality of the communication environment, and the icon will be displayed on the mobile device.

  • Alerts will be triggered based on the map information that was stored before the communication was lost.

  • Manual/automatic counts will send the location information stored in the terminal to the server when it comes within range of the radio signal, and reflect it in the loading/unloading results.

  • The number of images that can be stored while offline is 1,000, regardless of the set " “Frequency of location data transmission” and capacity.

*Cautions for operation out of Internet range

  • If the power is turned off or the application is task-killed while out of Internet range, the stored location information will be lost.

  • Since the location information of other vehicles cannot be acquired, even if the work judgment area centered on the location information of construction equipment is set, it will not function(It is necessary to step over the work judgment area drawn on the map.)

  • For the same reason as above, manual and automatic counting using the work judgment area does not work.

  • Not only the Fleet application, but also the GNSS position accuracy of mobile devices is generally unstable because the position correction by internet communication is disabled.

  1. FleetDevice

  • In case of no signal reception, location information is temporarily stored in the FleetDevice.

  • Up to 8 hours of position information can be stored.

  • When the maximum limit is reached, the oldest unsent data will be deleted first.

  • Stored location information is transmitted for up to one hour during the first two minutes after the product is activated.

  • If location information is stored for more than 1 hour, it will be transmitted by starting this product multiple times.
(Due to CPU performance, data stored in memory and transmit the latest data cannot be done in parallel.)
