Pilot Application Terms
The user acknowledges the terms of use outlined in the tablet application and including but not limited to other recommendations outlined in this document. The application usage terms can be found in the tablet app in the main Pilot interface settings → Terms of Use.
Smart Construction Pilot
Purpose
By displaying on this terminal the design drawings of the construction site and cutting edge information of construction machinery (hydraulic excavators) (hereinafter referred to as "hydraulic excavators") obtained from Smart Construction 3D Machine Guidance (formerly known as Smart Construction 3D Retrofit; the same applies below), a 3D machine guidance function will be provided to conventional hydraulic excavators, etc.
Function

3D machine guidance function (function of the app for this device): A function that allows the operator of a hydraulic excavator to operate the device accurately and easily during construction work such as excavation and embankment by displaying a prepared drawing of the construction site on the device and overlaying information about the cutting edge of the hydraulic excavator on the drawing.

Construction history data acquisition function (function of the application for this device): A function that stores the location information of the hydraulic excavator's cutting edge on this device and transmits it to Smart Construction using the communication function. The acquired data (location information) can be viewed on this web application.

Design surface orientation compass function (function of the app for this device): A function that is displayed on this device and indicates whether a surface of a design drawing selected by the customer is opposite, i.e. parallel, to the line connecting both ends of the hydraulic excavator bucket.

Floor plan display function (function of the app for this device): A function to display design drawings or floor plans that can be used as landmarks during construction on this device.

Design surface offset function (function of the app for this device): A function that allows you to freely move the display position and calculation position of the design drawing displayed on this device.

Construction machinery management function (function of this web application): A function that allows hydraulic excavators equipped with Smart Construction 3D Machine Guidance to be registered on Smart Construction, and to be displayed in a list and managed collectively on Smart Construction.

Remote View function (a function of this web app): A function that allows you to view the screen of this device from this web app by installing a separate screen sharing app on this device.

2D machine guidance function (function of the app for this device): A function that enables the operator of a hydraulic excavator to operate the device accurately and easily during construction work such as excavation and embankment by overlaying the design surface created using the cutting edge information of the hydraulic excavator on the device.

Payload meter function (function of the app for this device): A function that displays the weight currently loaded in the bucket of the hydraulic excavator on the device, and enables viewing of the amount of cargo that the hydraulic excavator has loaded onto dump trucks, etc.

Smart Construction 3D Machine Guidance firmware update function (function of the app for this device): A function that allows you to update the firmware for Smart Construction 3D Machine Guidance by installing a separate firmware update app on this device.

Steering indicator function (function of the app for this device)/A function that displays the horizontal distance for linework segments displayed on this device.

Geofence function (function of the app for this device) / A function that detects contact with the working area pre-set by the hydraulic excavator and sends an alert on this device.

Simulator function (function of the app for this device) / A function that loads previously prepared design drawings into the simulator mode on this device, allowing the work equipment (boom, arm, bucket) to repeat certain movements on the screen without actual operation.

Usage Limitations
The below limitations apply to the operation of the 3DMG system in accordance with Komatsu’s terms and warranty policies.
Usage in Water (submersed)

The 3DMG system including it’s components (sensors, harness etc) that form part of the standard system are not designed for submersible use.

The definition for submersible is for the components to be “fully submerged under water”.

The components are designed for use when exposed to standard environmental and operational water conditions, such as weather, cleaning the machine, etc.

The only exemption to this is if the components are fitted with Komatsu’s waterproof submersible kit that has been tested and authorised by Komatsu to meet these operational conditions and is available on certain machine models. Contact Komatsu Smart Construction Division for more information.

Usage of Payload System

The payload system is designed to be used as a guidance and reference only in accordance with the terms.

The payload system is not to be used for the verification or billing of material sales under any circumstance in accordance with relevant government regulations.
